About Me

I have been an artist since I was a teenager. I studied art, philosophy, history of religion and mathematics at the University of Kansas.

I worked as a software developer for what seemed like forever, including 15 years at NASA's Johnson Space Center where I authored a number of technical documents for both the Space Shuttle Program and the International Space Station Program.

When my kids were young, I wrote several children's books, but never published them. Herbie's Red Truck Tells the story of an artist who uses a red panel truck to transport his paintings and sculpture to art shows. Audrey the Butterfly is the story of a Monarch butterfly describing her migration to four-year-old Courtney. Audrey tells how she uses geomagnetic waves to navigate and find her way from Kansas to Mexico where her great grandmother was born.

In 2018 I joined the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI) and found a community willing to share their knowlegde and help writers develop their writing skills. I have learned so much from this group!

I now live in Austin Texas and I'm working on a variety of writing projects including short stories and several novels. When I'm not writing, you might find me listening to live music or in my back yard looking at the moon and planets with one of my small telescopes.
